According to an information panel on the building, its foundations date back to the 13th century. In 1683, it was reconstructed. On its top floors the tenth was stored. Until 1900, the ground floor contained a cowshed. The poet Eduard Möricke´s fiancée Luise Rau lived here in 1829/30. In 1984, the facade was renovated according to its baroque coloring.
